Volunteer FAQs
Here are a few of the frequently asked questions about volunteering at Second Helpings:
Is there a minimum number of volunteer hours required?
There is no formal minimum, but we ask that volunteers come in at least once a month.
What do I wear to volunteer?
- Long pants (jeans are fine)
- shirt with sleeves (tee shirts are fine, no tank tops)
- closed-toed, non-skid shoes (tennis shoes are fine)
- a hat (baseball cap or something to cover your hair)
Are there opportunities available for teens?
Yes, however, all volunteers must be at least 17 years old, and 16 years old accompanied by a parent or guardian, to volunteer in the production kitchen because of our insurance regulations. Occasionally, we have limited opportunities for younger teens. If you’d like to bring your family or youth group to volunteer, learn more here. If you’d like to inquire about additional opportunities, please contact our Manager of Volunteer Services Michelle Woodruff at michelle@secondhelpings.org or call (317) 632-2664 ext. 131.
Can my group volunteer for a one-time event?
Yes. Please visit this page to learn about group volunteering opportunities. Contact our Manager of Volunteer Services Michelle Woodruff at michelle@secondhelpings.org or call (317) 632-2664 ext. 131, if you have further questions.
