I am pleased to introduce Jane Snyder, Second Helpings’ Volunteer of the Month for September 2022. Jane has been a volunteer for nine years and nine months; she has logged 1,159+ hours through 364 shifts.
Jan served in several areas, including Bread Sorting, Pan Prep, Produce Chopper, and Tonic Ball. It is always great to see and talk to Jane on Tuesday afternoons. Her contagious smile and positive outlook make everyone feel good. Please join me in thanking her for her time here at Second Helpings.
Get to know Jane in her own words below.
How did you become involved in Second Helpings?
I heard about Second Helpings when it started and always thought it would be a great place to volunteer when I retired. It was the best decision I ever made.
What have you liked best about volunteering with us?
The best thing about the Second Helpings, besides the fact that many people get a meal daily that would go hungry otherwise, is the friends that I have made.
What do you do when you’re not volunteering with us?
I volunteer at my church Brookville Road Community Church also. I help the children’s program coordinator set up rooms and prepare handouts for the Sunday classes.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I like to read, sew, and knit. I have ten grandchildren, and I made a quilt for each one when they graduated high school.
