You are invited to participate in the third-annual Gr8 Pasta Push with Second Helpings and WISH-TV 8, June 2-16!
In 2021, this community-wide effort provided enough pasta to produce more than 145,600 meals in central Indiana.
As you may know, pasta is critical to Second Helpings’ kitchen, where we use about 1,800 pounds of it every week. That means your participation in the Gr8 Pasta Push makes a huge difference, allowing Second Helpings to keep feeding our neighbors in need.
This year, we’re excited to announce that gifts to the Gr8 Pasta Push, up to $20,000, will be generously matched, thanks to our community partners, GEICO Philanthropic Foundation and Kroger.
Why pasta?
Second Helpings relies on pasta drives like yours to bring much needed non-perishable items to our Hunger Relief kitchen. Pasta doesn’t tend to get donated through our regular sources. The shelf life is so long that wholesalers and grocery stores don’t need to move it along as quickly. Plus, Second Helpings uses those items in large quantities – so the items you collect will be put right to use feeding Indy!
Our priority items are elbow macaroni and spaghetti.
Pasta is a critical component to the meals Second Helpings prepares for the community. It’s always paired with protein and vegetables to provide hearty, nutritious meals for children, seniors, and families, in central Indiana.
