It is with great pleasure and joy that I present Michele Overly, Second Helpings’ Volunteer of the Month for July. There are so many things I can say about Michele. A couple of things I would share with you is that she is a great human, and a fantastic friend to Second Helpings. She moves quietly in her role as a Tuesday afternoon Bread Sorter. I always look forward to seeing her, our conversations are filled with lots of laughter, family updates, and swapping stories on our lives. I appreciate her dedication to our mission. Thank you Michele for your time here at Second Helpings!

How did you become involved with Second Helpings?
I have been with Second Helpings since 2014. I got involved for a few reasons. I knew I wanted to make some difference and have always felt a need to help others. My kids were in school and I wanted to do something while they were there. Second Helpings fit that for me.
What have you liked best about volunteering with us?
It’s a wonderful place and I love what they do for the community. The people are fun to be around.
What do you do when you’re not volunteering with us?
I love to read and could read 2-3 books per week. I love to travel.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
My husband and I are empty nesters now that the kids are back at college except for our 2 dogs (one is an angel and the other is NOT)!
