On Thursday, June 15, Second Helpings hosted a public birthday party on Monument Circle to celebrate 25 years of serving central Indiana through our food rescue, hunger relief, and culinary job training programs.
Flip through the photos below to relive the highlights! Thanks to everyone who made this celebration possible. Stay tuned for more ways to celebrate our anniversary this year.
Thanks to Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett for proclaiming June 15, 2023 “Second Helpings Day” and for his continued support of our organization.
Councillors Keith Graves and Kristin Jones represented the Indianapolis City-County Council and presented a proclamation that “thanks Second Helpings for their dedication to addressing the root causes of poverty by providing necessary resources to those in need.”
Second Helpings also received a Certificate of Senatorial Recognition from Indiana Senator Mike Braun and an official greeting from Congressman André Carson, who represents Indiana’s 7th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
This event fell on the last day of the fourth-annual Gr8 Pasta Push, so we had a pasta drop-off at the event, where we collected more than 1,200 pounds of pasta! Our partner for the Gr8 Pasta Push, WISH-TV broadcasted from the event all day as well.
Last but certainly not least, the event was filled with fun food and activities. Thanks to Buckingham Foundation for sponsoring the delicious cupcakes from Taylor’s Bakery, Iozzo’s Garden of Italy for providing spaghetti and meatballs, DJ Lockstar for filling the Circle with fun music, and to Downtown Indy for making the event possible.
Thanks to everyone who joined in the celebration! Stay tuned for more ways to celebrate our anniversary this year. In the meantime, please consider joining us as a volunteer – and be part of Second Helpings’ future!
