The Gr8 Pasta Push is back for the fourth year! Join Second Helpings and WISH-TV 8 for a community-wide pasta and fund drive to feed Indy, June 1-15. Last year, this effort provided more than 160,000 meals for our neighbors in central Indiana.
This year, all gifts made to the Gr8 Pasta Push, up to $21,000, will be generously matched by the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation and Kroger!
You can start your own fundraiser or pasta drive using resources on our website.
You can also donate pasta at our Birthday Party on the Circle – Thursday, June 15, 11 AM – 2 PM, at the southwest quadrant of Monument Circle. This event is free and open to the public, and we hope to see you there!
Why pasta?
Second Helpings relies on pasta drives to bring much needed non-perishable items to our Hunger Relief kitchen. Pasta doesn’t tend to get donated through our regular sources – the shelf life is so long that wholesalers and grocery stores don’t need to move it along as quickly. Plus, Second Helpings uses those items in large quantities – on average, Second Helpings uses about 1,000 pounds of pasta per week, so the items you collect will be put right to use feeding Indy!
Our priority item is elbow macaroni. Other small pastas like rotini, bowtie, etc., are also great ingredients for our Hunger Relief kitchen.
